What to expect on the Mission Field

When you arrive you will quickly see that there is still much work to be done to rebuild these communities and the lives of people here.

Base Camp

When you arrive at the Foursquare Base Camp you will see that we are a piece of a much bigger picture at play. Our Base Camp is on the same site with other ministries who serve meals, distribute clothing and necessary household items.

Dorms

Our dorms are large “crusade style” tents. We have large portable heaters for cold nights and fans for hot nights. Men and women have separate quarters.

Showers

We have been blessed to have a “shower bus” that accommodates 4 campers at a time along with other shower facilities available on site. Shower slippers/sandles are necessary.

Work

There is always a level of risk as we work in Mississippi in the midst of lots of structural damage in homes. A greater risk involved is the bacteria and pollution from the debris left behind. Keeping your hands clean and wearing HEPA masks while working is a must.

Vaccinations

For your protection we reccomend that you have an updated tetnis shot prior to your arrival at the base camp.

Base Camp Leadership

We believe that God's presence and protection flow most effectively through order and submission to authority. The base camp is staffed with a camp manager who will be in charge during your stay. The camp manager is responsible for maintaining order at the camp site as well as managing and scheduling work orders for the teams.

Travel

When planning a trip to Mississippi it is important to remember that traveling light is very important. You will need to bring:

1 Water bottle to carry onto jobs
1 Pair Working Boots/1 Pair Tennis Shoes
1 Pair Rubber Gloves/1 Pair Leather Gloves
1 Rain Coat or Poncho
Pillow & Sheet
Personal Hygiene Items
Towels
1 Pair of Flip-Flops for the shower
1 can of deep woods off
1 Small Flash Light

Shelter and meals are provided once you get to the base camp.

**NOTE: When you are leaving your area and traveling, weather flying or driving, please call the Base Camp Director, Steve at
325-212-5801
or 409-739-7474 and connect with him concerning arrival time. Also, if you are flying please make contact at any layovers. This way we know if your flight is not on time and we don’t lose a day of work waiting for a delayed flight.

What to bring

There will unsanitary conditions so you will need blue jean pants and long sleeve shirts for each work day (preferably long sleeve
"t-shirts"
because of the heat and humidity). Work gloves, one HEPA dust mask, work boots, hats, rubber gloves, leather gloves, waterless hand sanitizer, and handi-wipes. Please mark all personal items before you arrive. Please be modest in dress (no halter-tops, 2 piece bathing suits, and muscle shirts) For after hour attire can consist of modest shirts, tennis shoes or flip flops.

What NOT to bring

T.V.'s, I-Pods, Walk-mans, game-boys or any electronic devises that contribute to isolation and/or distraction from the mission.

Attitude To Be Clothed In
It is best to treat this trip as if you are going overseas. Jesus
displayed an attitude of humility, servant hood, and a heart to cry
Thy Kingdom Come Thy Will Be Done” may He give us the strength to do the same!
